Mt. Carmel’s fate to be announced today

By Trina A. San Agustin

ARCHBISHOP Anthony Apuron will make an announcement at 11:30 a.m. today whether Mt. Carmel Catholic School in Agat will continue to operate.
According to alumni committee member Attorney Mike Phillips, the archbishop will inform those involved in saving the school if they have met the three challenges set by the archbishop.
“The challenges he set was find a qualified administrator for the school, increase enrollment to about 150 students, and gather the alumni and raise money to keep the school open,” Phillips told Variety.
The archbishop made the announcement of the school’s closure in February but told the alumni committee that he would “re-think” the closure if the three challenges are met. Phillips said these were met.
