THE Superior Court has imposed a cash bail of $10,000 each for two men who burglarized two stores on Tinian and stole cash as well as various items.
The court also set a $1,000 bail for each of the two women – the suspects’ girlfriends — who received the stolen items.
Edward Lee Santos, 22, Anthony M. Aquiningoc, 19, Antonette Atalig, 18 and Jessica K. Cabrera, 18, were remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections when they failed to post bail on Monday afternoon.
The four were brought for a bail hearing on Monday afternoon before Judge Kenneth Govendo.
The suspects’ arraignment was set for May 11 at the Tinian Superior Court.
The affidavit of Detective Jayver C. Cruz stated that a burglary and theft incident was reported to the police on April 7.
The owner of Island Gear Store on Tinian reported the incident.
A confidential source of the police identified the suspects as Santos and Aquiningoc.
Investigation disclosed that Santos and Aquiningoc broke into the Island Gear Store between the hours of 2 to 3 a.m. on April 7 and stole sunglasses, hats, DVDs, necklaces and cash money.
The affidavit stated that on April 9 between 12 midnight to 1 a.m., the defendants broke into the FPA store and stole a rice cooker, electric fans, cigarettes, flashlight, milk, batteries, canned goods, betel nuts and chewing tobacco.
The affidavit stated that the defendants stole about $1,000 cash money.
