DPW urged to prioritize Rota dialysis facility

THE architectural and engineering design of the proposed dialysis treatment facility intended for Rota through funding from the federal government has been done as early as early January, but there is no word yet when the project will begin.
Sen. Paul A. Manglona, R-Rota, said the island’s legislative delegation was informed by the technical services division of the Department of Public Works that H.K. Pangelinan & Associates has already completed the A&E design of the Rota dialysis treatment facility, a project which has been funded since 2002.
Manglona said he has asked Public Works Secretary Jose S. Demapan to assign a project manager to follow up on the project which aims to ease Rota dialysis patients and their families’ burden in regularly traveling to Saipan for the treatment.
“I know you agree with us that this is a very important project for the people of Rota especially for the families of those hemodialysis patients who have been relocated to Saipan for treatment,” Manglona told Demapan in an April 16 letter.
