THE Guam Visitors Bureau is urging residents to vote for their choice in the 2007 Miss Guam Tourism competition.
On Saturday, April 28, Guam’s local beauties will compete for the title of Miss Guam Tourism 2007.
The lucky winner will be the face of Guam tourism for the next year and will represent Guam on up to 30 off-island trips, playing a vital role in GVB’s marketing efforts both on Guam and abroad.
The People’s Choice Award, one of the most popular categories, returns this year and is determined through on-line voting two weeks leading up to the pageant, at the GVB Web site.
People can vote for their People’s Choice Award by logging on to www.visitguam.org or texting on GUAMCELL wireless phones, MGT and their contestant number to 4532. There is a $0.10 charge per text message.
The Miss Guam Tourism 2007 contestants include Christina Quintanilla, Vanessa Losongco, Jannetta Wong, Tiffany Degracia, Jeannie Aevermann, Naiomi Uncangco, Lisa Cruz, and Dianna Ladmirault.
Categories include Miss Guam Tourism 2007, 1st Runner Up, 2nd Runner Up, People’s Choice, Best in Swimsuit, Best in Evening Gown, Best in Native Costume, Miss Photogenic, and Miss Congeniality.
All of the winners may potentially be called upon to represent Guam on some occasions.
The pageant will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at the University of Guam Fieldhouse. This year’s theme — “Fiesta of Beauty” — will feature different aspects of Guam’s culture and history from the pageant’s stage design to the music selection.
The contestants will compete for cash prizes, the honor of representing Guam both locally and overseas, celebrity endorsement opportunities, wardrobe, makeup, jewelry and other prizes.
Tickets for the pageant night can now be purchased for $20 at GVB, Paradise Fitness Center, and the Barrigada Subway Restaurant. Admission at the door is $25.
