‘Good stewards of the planet’

IN the “Mallard Fillmore” comic strip that appears in the Marianas Variety-Guam Edition every day (Page 26), right-wing messages get played out. In the March 29 edition, it states, “According to this New Book, (Religious Literacy: What Every American Needs to Know-and Doesn’t) 50 percent of U.S. high school seniors think that Sodom and Gomorrah were married. The second bubble reads, “Apparently, the people who want to “Keep Religion out of Our Schools” are doing a heck of a job.
Well, if you poll 50 percent of U.S. seniors on any subject, they would be ignorant. Nice try, conservatives. But since you brought up Sodom and Gomorrah, it is important to note that there are Republican homosexuals, such as the Log Cabin Republicans, who desire more recognition within the GOP. Not just those on the liberal left. (Specifically, it is an offense to God to live a “fast-and-loose” lifestyle, be it homosexual or heterosexual. In fact it is written in the Bible that if your eye causes you to sin, it is better to pluck it out and throw it away than having your whole body be thrown into hell.) But redemption is OPEN to all.
In the “Mallard Fillmore” comic strip in the Marianas Variety-Guam Edition (March 26, Page 22), “This just in…The NY Times has actually published an article critical of Al Gore’s book and movie. “The second bubble states,”… Leading to global climate change in HELL, which is reportedly freezing over as we speak…”
The reason why conservatives mock Al Gore on climate change is not because it is not happening but because it will cut into the profit margins (not necessary) of their contributors. Moreover, it is written in the Bible that the earth and the elements have been prepared since the beginning of the time for judgment through fire. That is the real reason why some conservatives believe it is not man-made but already present by God. (Is war also predetermined by God such as the war in Iraq or is it driven by ambition, greed, pride, revenge?) However, Evangelical Christians increasingly are opposed to the war and now more vocal on climate change. Why? Because we all have a duty to be good stewards of this planet as long as we are around. That is why Christian women and men (and non-believers as well) hid Jews at their own detriment during Hitler’s reign of terror instead of waiting for THE SECOND COMING!
