A retired Civil Engineer won the title of the First Easter Open 9-ball billiards tournament on Sunday at the Q-Ball Club.
Anastacio Renguul, who spent much of his profession in Marshall Islands where he won several tournaments, defeated erratic Lark Daniel, 9-5, in their (Race to 9) championship showdown.
Faik Elblam outplayed Peofilus Ngiratkei, 7-1, to settle for third place.
Renguul said he has been playing the game since 1975 until 1996 in the Marshalls and had won his last title there in 1991.
Despite of the easy win, Renguul has high respects for Daniel, whom he said, he’s one of the best players of the game in Palau but he could not get the needed breaks this time.
It was the first tournament title for Renguul in Palau.
He was eliminated right in the first round in his last tournament at the Q-ball.
Daniel reached the championship game via a 7-6 win over Ngiratkei in the semifinals while Renguul advanced by beating Elblam.
