Anatahan haze reaches Guam

By Trina San Agustin
Variety News Staff

LATE Tuesday night and into yesterday morning, island residents may have noticed the haze from the northern island of Anatahan.
According to National Weather Service meteorologist Mike Middlebrook, the winds carried the Anatahan volcanic haze toward Saipan, Tinian and Guam.
“The winds switched after the showers came (yesterday) and now the haze is out of area. The skies are nice and blue and clear like they should be,” Middlebrook told Variety.
The CNMI Emergency Management Office issued on Tuesday night a volcanic haze and sulfur advisory, as Anatahan has been putting out gas and steam plume.
