Vendor change causes Guam credit card problems

By Gerardo R. Partido
Variety News Staff

THE Bank of Guam’s switch to a new merchant services vendor has resulted in processing errors for merchants and customers alike.
The service offered by Bank of Guam, which allows its merchants to accept and process credit and debit card transactions, is widely used around the island.
Earlier, some residents complained about being billed twice for the same product or service rendered.
However, Bank of Guam assured yesterday that its vendor has resolved most of the issues, which include customers being charged twice.
According to Bank of Guam, most of the credit card transactions which were double-posted have already been reversed, after such transactions have been verified.
The bank assured that it will also credit customers’ accounts whose debit cards have been charged twice, again after the transactions have been verified.
Residents who still have concerns regarding merchant accounts are urged to contact (670) 472-5244.
Bank of Guam is cautioning consumers to only contact bank officials and not give out credit and financial information to individuals unknown to them.
