WATCH & Learn
is one step away from securing the championship in the World Organized
Rocball Community League after winning Game 2 of their title series against
the Mwaliyas yesterday at the Marianas High School Gym.
Watch & Learn posted back-to-back victories in the best-of-five championship
series with a 49-45 overtime win in Game 2.
The Mwaliyas foiled Watch & Learns bid for a juiced-out win
in Game 2, but still the match ended quickly in overtime with Mark McDonald
nailing a game-winning goal.
The Mwaliyas found a new lease on life in Game 2 when they won the fourth
set, 18-6.
After the regulation, Watch & Learn was up by a point, 46-45, but
it could not claim the victory, as rocball rules state that the leading
team can only take the game if it also wins the fourth set.
If not, the game will go into overtime with the leading team needing only
one set to end the match. The trailing squad must win two sets to steal
the game.
Watch & Learn did not even need to finish the first overtime set,
as McDonald scored a goal off a first serve.
In rocball rules in overtime games, a team wins a set if it hits a goal
even though the game is not yet finished or a team has yet to score 15
or more points.
McDonald, who had 20 points in Watch & Learns 61-48 win in Game
1, led his team anew drilling 15 points. He had five kees, an ace and
a goal.
Tyce Mister added 11 points on two xunxs, an ace, a kee and a goal.
No Mwaliyas player scored in double figures as Shane Yamada had only six
points.
Watch & Learn held the Mwaliyas to three points in the first set to
win easily, 15-3.
The Mwaliyas regained their bearings in the second set notching a 16-8
triumph.
But they failed to sustain their momentum in the third set, which Watch
& Learn controlled, 17-8.
The Mwaliyas extended the game in overtime with a 12-point win in the
fourth set. But not for too long, as McDonald delivered anew for Watch
& Learn.
The Mwaliyas need to win Game 3 to extend the series and keep their title
defense alive.
