Torres: CUC case ‘very much alive’

By Moneth G. Deposa

REPRESENTATIVE Stanley T. Torres says despite the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.’s denial of his request for a schedule of payments for his utility bills, he is not giving up and that his case is “very much alive.”
“I am not giving up my pursuit to help people who are suffering because of excessive power bills and being disconnected. I have confidence in our judicial branch an that justice and due process of the law will prevail,” he said.
Torres, Ind.-Saipan, said the case is not “dead.”
“It is very much alive and kicking…until my case is heard in Superior Court and ruled otherwise,” he said.
The case is scheduled to be heard on April 26 at 1:30 pm.
“If I win the case, everybody wins, but if I lose….everybody loses and we will all have reason to call the other lawmakers to ask what they plan to do to eliminate the agony of our defeat,” he said.
Torres said he is confident that the court will be “fair and flexible” and allow people to meet their obligations instead of being subject to“insensitive and arrogant disconnections.”
