THE Arts Council says plans
for the annual Flame Tree Festival next week at the Susupe Civic Center
have been completed.
Forty stalls have been allotted for art exhibits and 15 for vendors.
Arts Council director Cecilia Taitano Celes held a meeting on Wednesday
with Sabalu market president Edward C. Deleon Guerrero and agriculture
consultant Isidoro T. Cabrera to discuss the temporary transfer of the
Sabalu market.
The Flame Tree Festival will be held from April 26 to 28 and will occupy
the area used by farmers who sell their produce at Sabalu market.
The Arts Council and the farmers group say they want to complement
each other during the festival.
Deleon Guerrero said their group celebrates their sixth anniversary on
April 27.
He said because the festival will be held at the Civic Center this year,
they expect the earnings of the Sabalu market to be doubled.
Deleon Guerrero said they will hold the Sabalu market on the final day
of the festival beside the 4-H Club building located just a short distance
from the markets original location.
The Flame Tree Arts Festival used to be held at American Memorial Park
in Garapan. But the Arts Council said the federal park is no longer waiving
the location fee and other charges which amount to $750 a day.
