AUTHORITIES yesterday arrested a 30-year-old man for selling three grams of a controlled substance commonly known as “ice” during a buy-bust operation last week.
Lin Sheng was brought to the U.S. District Court for the NMI yesterday afternoon.
According to the complaint filed by Assistant US Attorney Craig Moore, Lin, on or about April 13, distributed a controlled substance, approximately 3 grams of “ice.”
Moore moved that the defendant be held without bail pending appointment of counsel.
U.S. District Court for the NMI Chief Judge Alex Munson agreed and ordered that Lin be remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
An affidavit from the Department of Public Safety, stated that the buy-bust operation was conducted on April 13.
Lin was identified by a cooperating source as someone who had previously sold drugs.
Members of the Drug Enforcement Administration, the DPS Criminal Investigation Bureau and the US Marshals Service conducted a briefing for the buy-bust operation.
After the briefing, authorities proceeded to Price Costco in San Jose.
The cooperating source, upon arrival in the parking lot of Price Costco, called Lin at his tire shop’s telephone number and ordered five grams of ice.
Lin told the cooperating source to give him 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, he called the cooperating source and told him that he only had three grams of ice.
The cooperating source and Lin agreed to meet in the Price Costco parking lot.
Lin arrived later and parked his vehicle. He had a minor companion who was in the back seat.
The affidavit stated that the minor was Lin’s son.
The cooperating source then approached Lin’s vehicle and entered on the passenger side .
Lin handed him a clear ziplock bag containing a white napkin and in the napkin there were three clear ziplock bags containing a crystalline substance.
The cooperating source then handed Lin the buy-bust money amounting to $1,100.
Lin was arrested later.
