Sonics rout Celtics; G-Rollers, ChaCha Ballers prevail

SIX more teams debuted in the NYBA 2007 16-and-under Basketball League last Wednesday at the Garapan basketball court with the Sonics, G-Rollers 1 and the ChaCha Junior High Scholl Ballers posting easy wins.
The Ballers met the Kagman Explosives in the first game in the girls’ 16-and-under division and nailed a 24-10 victory.
After taking a 14-8 lead at the end of the first half, the Ballers held the Explosives to two points in the second half for a 14-point win in their debut.
Mercedes M. paced the Ballers with 10 points.
In the second game in the boys’ 14-and-under division, the G-Rollers 1 also had little trouble beating the G-Rollers 2, 69-20.
The G-Rollers 1 limited the G-Rollers 2 to four markers in the first half to take a commanding 34-4 lead at halftime. The G-Rollers 1 never looked back from thereon.
Mike Bondoc and Douglas Dillay topscored for the G-Rollers 1 drilling 11 points apiece. Jomar Danas added 10, while JR Concepcion and Jason Palacios chipped in eight each.
In the boys’ 16-and-under division match, the Sonics had a workout against the Celtics posting an 85-49 triumph.
Ed Solito paced the Sonics with 13 points, while two of his teammates also scored in double figures. Kris Aquino chipped in 12, while Lawrence Echon added 10.
Charlie Jo was the lone player to score in double figures for the Celtics with 18.
