NU Heights to defend men’s title at Jam Attack

GUAM’s NU Heights is back to defend their title in the men’s division of the 2007 Jam Attack volleyball tournament, which will kick off tonight at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.
The Heights, which defeated Burma Blue in last year’s finals with eventual tournament MVP Rob Borden pacing the visitors, are leading the 10-team field in the men’s division.
Tinian and Hagan are fielding one team each in the men’s division
The NU Heights are also bringing two women’s squads to challenge NMI teams and one squad each from Tinian and Hagan. So far, eight teams have confirmed their participation in the women’s division.
This year’s women’s defending champion is Pikkan Gaga, which downed Burma Pink in the 2006 finals.
Northern Mariana Islands Volleyball Association vice president Taula Peter is reminding coaches to attend a meeting tonight at 5 p.m at the Ada Gym.
The $150 entrance fee is also due today. NMIVA will strictly implement a no pay, no play rule.
The champion teams in the annual tournament will receive a perpetual trophy. Cash prizes also await the top placers and the second and third finishers.
