29th Saipan Ocean Swim tomorrow

(SSC)—THE 29th Saipan Ocean Swim will be held tomorrow at World Resort.
The annual tournament was originally set for last month, but bad weather and previous commitments of participants forced Saipan Swim Club to reschedule the event.
Registration is still set for 7 a.m. at World Resort, while the races will begin at 8 a.m.
A coaches meeting is set for 7:30 p.m.
The annual even will have competitions in eight age groups.
The 8-and-under will cover a distance of 600m, 1000m for 9 to 10 age group, 1300m for 11 to 12 and 2500m for 13 to 14 and 15 to 19 age groups.
Participants in the 20 to 29, 30 to 29, 40 to 49, 50 to 59 and 60-and-over age groups can join either the 1300m race or the 2500m.

Women’s Spring League games


THE Fiesta Fuerza will meet PIC’s Pretty Incredible Chicks in the first game in the Spring 2007 NMIFA Women’s Recreational League tomorrow at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.
The match starts at 8:30 a.m. to be followed by the 10 a.m. tiff between the Grand Mean Striking Machines and Smith’s Sonic Booms.
The four teams are hoping to notch a win in the second week of the tournament after their debuts ended in draws.
The Grand Mean Striking Machines battled Fiesta Fuerza and they scored two goals apiece. The Smith’s Sonics Booms-PIC game also ended in a tie, 3-3.


No games in BANMI 25-and-under caging


THERE will be no games in the SAIPANCELL/BANMI 25-and-under Basketball Leagues this weekend to give way to a volleyball tournament at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.
Games in the youth basketball tournament will resume next weekend with 670 meeting the Hoopaholics in the first game on Saturday, the Ol’Aces battling Hi-Five in the second match and the G-Stars challenging the Cholos in the third game.
Next Sunday, the Sonics will fight the Cyclones in the first match, while Ghasias will take on the G-Rollers in the second game.


UFO caging meeting Sunday


Organizers of the 7th Annual UFO Inter-Organization Basketball League are calling on coaches/team representatives to attend a meeting this Sunday at 3 p.m. athe Filipino Workers Resource Center at the Marianas Business Park in Susupe.
Tournament ground rules and other details related to the league opening will be discussed at the meeting.
UFO president Ramon Awit is also reminding teams of the deadline for the submission of requirements. Interested teams have until April 29 to submit the requirements.

San Roque Parish golf tournament May 27
The 13th Annual San Roque Parish Golf Tournament will be held on May 27 at the Marianas Country Club in Marpi.
The annual golfest will be having competitions in six flights, namely the Championship Flight, A, B,C, Ladies and Seniors.
Proceeds from the tournament will go to the improvement of the parish social hall.
