GMH to introduce 500 new fees

By Mar-Vic Cagurangan
Variety News Staff

THE Guam Memorial Hospital will establish over 500 fees for new services, supplies and pharmaceutical products now being offered by the hospital, and is seeking public input on the proposed rates.
“These are not rate increases and they are not in any way associated with the increased service fees proposed by the administration. These are new fees for services that we have never had before,” GMH assistant chief financial officer Jane Flores said.
The new services will be offered by various units at the hospital, including the emergency room, Flores added. The list of new services was not available at press time.
GMH is holding a public hearing today at 9 a.m. in the boardroom to allow public scrutiny of the proposed fees.
“We want to get the public’s opinion before we bring the proposal to the hospital board,” Flores said.
Once the board approves the rate structure, the proposal will be presented to the Legislature, which has 45 days to act on it.
