RP voters may claim ballots at consulate

By Gerardo R. Partido
Variety News Staff

THE Philippine Consulate General on Guam is calling on all Filipinos on island who have registered for overseas absentee voting to claim their ballots for this year’s Philippine senatorial and party-list elections.
Included are voters who have indicated in their overseas absentee voting registration that their electoral mail be forwarded to the consulate.
These people are urged to communicate with the consulate personally or by phone in order to make arrangements for the transmittal and delivery of election-related mail to them.
The consulate, however, is encouraging the concerned registrants to personally visit the consulate in claiming their ballots so that they could use the opportunity to cast their votes as well, since personal delivery of accomplished ballots is allowed, even in the case of Guam which has been authorized to adopt the postal mode of voting.
Currently, there are seven electoral mails that are under the custody of the consulate which need to reach their respective addressees and be acted upon accordingly before the end of the voting period on May 14, 2007.
These are addressed to the following: (1) Wiliber G. Morales; (2) Carlos O. Palua; (3) Ma. Amor O. Toraja; (4) Eileen C. Olac; (5) Florencio V. Sahagun, Jr.; (6) Jesus R. Ocheda; and (7) Pascual V. Sevilla.
These individuals, whose overseas absentee voting registration records are not available in the consulate’s records, may have registered for the overseas absentee voting at the overseas absentee voting registration counters that were set up for departing Filipino workers and immigrants at the departure areas of the Centennial Airport and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City, Philippines.
