A 46-year-old woman landed
in jail for threatening to shoot Gov. Benigno Fitial and his secretary
for supposedly stealing her money.
Encherina Suka was arrested on Friday for disturbing the peace and for
making a terrorist threat.
She was brought to Superior Court for a hearing yesterday afternoon before
Associate Judge David A. Wiseman, who imposed a cash bail of $2,000.
Sukas counsel, Assistant Public Defender Malik Edwards, requested
for a bail modification.
Wiseman allowed Suka to be released yesterday but ordered her to return
to court today at 9 a.m. for the bail modification hearing.
The government was represented by Assistant Attorney General Joseph Taijeron.
Suka said she is single, has no job and no permanent address.
She was convicted of child abuse or child neglect on Aug. 6, 1999. She
was also charged with assault and battery but the case was dismissed.
In 2000 she was charged with criminal trespass but this case was also
dismissed.
According to the police affidavit, on April 20, at 10:09 a.m., Womens
Affair Office staffer Remedio Seman Buniag received a phone call from
Suka.
Suka wanted to speak to the governors secretary or the governor
himself.
When the staffer told Suka that the secretary was in a meeting with the
governor, the caller told the staffer that Im going up to
the governors office to shoot the secretary and the governor because
the governor is stealing my money.
The staffer asked Suka if she was making a threat. She responded: The
governor is stealing my money and hung up the phone.
The staffer, through caller ID, wrote down the telephone number of the
caller and reported the incident to the police.
