A VETERANS group whose members
saw action here during World War II has invited the CNMI government to
join their annual reunion in Cincinnati next month.
Lt. Gov. Timothy P. Villagomez, on behalf of the government, has accepted
the invitation to be the featured speaker of the 73rd Bomb Wing Association
during its banquet on May 4.
According to the groups newsletter Saipan Superfort, the opportunity
to learn more about Saipan and revisit some of our experiences will be
very meaningful to all of us.
In a statement, Villagomez said: We are humbled that these veterans
would think to honor the CNMI with this invitation, when we owe them a
tremendous debt of gratitude for their service.
He said he hopes to convey the islands gratitude and to generate
more interest among veterans and family members to visit the CNMI.
Villagomez will honor each of the 73rd Bomb Wing veterans who served on
Saipan during the war with medallions minted by the CNMI and donated by
VFW Post 3457.
This conveys the CNMIs appreciation more eloquently than words,
the Saipan Superfort stated. We proudly accept and will wear them
with pride.
