THE Guam Police Department arrested a Mangilao man after he allegedly stabbed a 34-year-old man in the chest at a party in Mangilao Friday night.
According to Guam Memorial Hospital nursing supervisor Cely Mangrobang, the victim was treated and released for a superficial wound that night.
GPD public information officer Allan Guzman said William John Pinaula, 23, was booked and confined on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, use of a deadly weapon, resisting arrest, and destroying evidence.
Guzman told Variety that the stabbing took place during a party at a Mangilao residence. When police arrived, they saw the victim with a stab wound and transported him to GMH.
More arrests eyed in Leo Palace fire
GPD’s Cold Case Unit has taken the lead in the investigation of Thursday night’s fire in a maintenance room at the Leo Palace Resort in Mangenon.
Guzman told Variety that there was evidence found at the scene of the fire that led to the arrest of John Aguero Cruz, 41, of Yona.
Cruz is an employee of the resort assigned at the maintenance department.
Cruz was booked and confined on GPD charges of arson, burglary, trespassing, criminal mischief, and criminal facilitation.
“More arrests are pending,” Guzman said. “The case is forwarded to the Cold Case Unit because of the recent backlog of cases stemming from the Astumbo case last week.”
The fire occurred Thursday night at a warehouse in the compound. Officials believe that the damage was worth over $250,000. On the same night in a separate fire, a golf cart burned which police continue to investigate.
Man wanted for exposing self to minor
A man flashed his private parts at a 14-year-old student at Simon Sanchez High School while she was walking toward her bus stop in the Gill-Baza Subdivision in Dededo last week.
The girl, according to Guzman, was able to get away from the man. She then accepted an offer for a ride by a “friend of the family.”
The suspect is described as having a dark complexion with long black hair. He was last seen wearing a red baseball cap with gray striped pants.
Copper wire theft arrests
On Wednesday at 11:30 a.m., police responded to the Andy South area in Dededo as two individuals were reported to have been taking items from abandoned housing structures there.
Through further investigations, police found that the two individuals took copper wire and other metal they planned to sell as scrap.
Arrested and charged with eight counts of theft of property and criminal trespass were Modesto Junior Sama, 36, and James Respicio Taylor, 30, both of Dededo. They were booked and released.
Guzman told Variety that the two allegedly met up with another individual who informed them that they can make money by taking the copper wire at the Andy South location if they sold it.
The two men were caught loading the materials into a vehicle. Guzman said the two stole from eight housing structures
