Palau experiences rain shower but still asked to conserve water

Palau will be experiencing isolated rain showers in the coming days due to a weak circulation in Yap.
The National Weather Service said that the weak circulation is causing the scattered rain shower and thunderstorm in Palau.
The rain is good news for Palau as just last week, Resources and Development Minister Fritz Koshiba asked the community to conserve water.
Koshiba in an interview said the Ngerimel Dam in Airai is in its critical stage and that water rationing is a possibility.
Koshiba said that the ministry is avoiding water rationing that could inconvenience Koror and Airai residents.
Koshiba earlier told reporters that the dam has dropped seven feet from its normal levels.
He said that because of El Nino, Palau need to experience some rain to allow the dam to be filled up.
He said that about 4 million gallons everyday are pumped in Koror.
Koshiba said either the community pray for rain or start conserving water to avoid water rationing.
The government has asked the community to report leaking pipes and various establishments were called to initiate water conservation measures.
