WATCH & Learn posted a 56-44 juiced-out win in Game 3 to sweep the finals series in the World Organized Rocball Community League and dethrone the Mwaliyas.
The last two sets of Game 3 were played yesterday at the Marianas High School Gym. The first two sets were played last Thursday with Watch & Learn ahead by only three points, 27-24. The eventual champion took the first set, 15-8, while the 2006 champion Mwaliyas bounced back in the second set, 16-12.
The third set was also a close game with the Mwaliyas threatening to extend the series prevailing in the third set, 15-12 and tying the match, 39-all.
But that was the closest that the Mwaliyas could get, as Watch & Learn recovered big in the fourth set winning by 12, 17-5, and ending the best-of-five title series with a sweep.
Watch & Learn easily won Game 1 notching a 61-48 juiced-out victory.
The Mwaliyas had the best chance to win a match in the championship series in Game 2 when they extended the game in overtime. But Watch & Learn still won the second match, 49-45, on a Mark McDonald’s goal.
McDonald delivered anew in Game 3 firing 13 points on five kees and a goal.
Other members of Watch & Learn are Tyce Mister, Nick Gross, Maria Ornez and Travis Warren.
The Mwaliyas are composed of Shane Yamada, Gary Philips, Denri Fiden, Vanessa Williams, Valentine Taisacan, Darrel Roligat and Pedro Iguel.
Ten teams battled for this year’s title with the Dublon Chiefs, Da Lani Kynez, Watch & Learn and the Mwaliyas making up the Final Four.
Black Magic and Kich Fairo entered the second round of the tournament before they fell short of notching semis seats, while the Ballers, Bwi Bwiis, 670’s Finest and the Caropinos were eliminated early.
Games in this sport, which is a combination of volleyball and soccer, are organized by Saipan rocball creator James Feger.
