JAMIE Vales saved
the best for last knocking down 190 pins in Game 4 to claim the Pepsi
April Princess of the Lanes crown last Sunday at the Saipan Bowling Center.
Entering Game 4, Vales was in fifth place, three pinfalls ahead of last
placer Raphael Zapanta.
She had 435 pinfalls after three games, behind by 30 pinfalls against
first placer Mayanne McKenzie, who posted 465. In second place was Zack
Cruz with 462 pinfalls, followed by Ryan Gutierrez (461) and Jared Gutierrez
(450).
Vales had the highest score in Game 4 to slip past four bowlers and take
the monthly honors. In four games, Vales averaged 156.25 pinfalls.
It was her third Princess of the Lanes title, as she also won in January
and February. Zapanta topped last months roll-off.
Jared scored the second best in Game 4 with 168 pinfalls for a total of
618 tying Cruz.
In fourth place was McKenzie, who had 143 in Game 4 for a total of 608
pinfalls, followed by Zapanta with 584 and Ryan with 574.
The top placer in the youth tournament won $20, while the two second placers
received $13 each. Vales also won a case of Selecta ice cream and a case
of
Frito Lay Doritos from Micronesian Brokers through its mnager Kitz Barja.
Meanwhile, Simon Manacop and Emi Williams are leading in the King and
Queen of the Lanes tournament.
After last Sundays tournament, Manacop scored 815 pinfalls. He had
a 187 in Game 1, 219 in Game 2, 229 in Game 3 and 180 in Game 4.
If no bowler scores better than 815 pinfalls on the second day of the
tournament, Manacop will take the monthly plum.
The King and Queen monthly roll-offs are played for two days. Bowlers
have the option to bowl on Sunday or Monday, but only the highest score
will be counted.
Last nights results were unavailable at press time.
Currently in second place is Raymond Angeles with 768 pinfalls, followed
by Kitz Barja (765), Robert Talavera (731) and Percy Omechelang (684).
Six more bowlers joined the King of the Lanes tournament with Jon Eparwa
in sixth place with 677, followed by Ferdee Generoso (656), Edgar Talavera
(655), Roger Vales (614), Jorge Soledad (599) and Ricardo Tapang (583).
Only five bowlers competed in last Sundays Queen of the Lanes race
with Williams holding a 54-point lead over Gigi Zapanta. Williams scored
720 while Gigi had 666. Elena Soll and Carol McKenzie are tied for third
with 642 pinfalls apiece, while Gloria Omechelang posted 560.
