A WOMAN was attacked by an
inmate while visiting him at the Department of Corrections over the weekend.
The victim sustained injuries and was brought to the Commonwealth Health
Center for treatment after she was assaulted by Gerald C. Sablan, 29.
Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Lei Ogumoro said the incident
is still under investigation.
A preliminary investigation disclosed that on Sunday, at 1:34 p.m., medics
were dispatched to the Department of Corrections to attend to an injured
person.
The victim had gone to Corrections to visit the suspect who then assaulted
her.
DPS said the victim is now in stable condition.
Sablan is serving a life sentence for kidnapping, for attempted first
degree murder, conspiracy to commit first degree murder, aggravated assault
and battery, and assault with a dangerous weapon.
He was found guilty in Superior Court for beating up a man at the old
airfield in 2005.
