School aide arrested for peddling marijuana

THE Guam Police Department arrested a school aide at George Washington High School in Mangilao for allegedly selling drugs to a 16-year-old male student.
Mark Allan Nauta Turschwitz, 25, of Agat, was booked and confined on charges of illegal possession of a schedule one substance in a school zone, possession with the intent to distribute, jurisdiction over a minor, child abuse, and official misconduct.
According to GPD public information officer Allan Guzman, a student saw another student give Turschwitz “something.” The student thought it odd and reported it to other school officials.
Through further investigations, police discovered that the school aide was selling drugs to the student.
Guzman told Variety that the minor was taken into custody and turned over to the Criminal Investigation Division’s Juvenile Investigation Section. It was not known if the student was charged with any crime.
Guam Public School System Superintendent Luis Reyes said the George Washington High School aide will definitely be subject to administrative action.
“This is something (administrative action) that has to happen as we cannot tolerate this activity,” Reyes told Variety. “The type of administrative action taken is dependent on the status of the employee. If he is a part-time employee, we do not need to go through a lengthy procedure. Termination will be one of the serious considerations. I am sure you don’t want anyone peddling drugs to your kids at school.”
