Peched, 3 others advance in NBL playoffs

Defending Champion Peched Raw defeated the Surangel Suns, 91-84, on Tuesday night April 18 even as three other Division I teams also ousted their respective opponents and advanced in the ongoing playoff round of the 2007 NBL.
Sunshine Soalablai led the defending champions with 30 points while Weston Ketebengang scored 12 of his 19 in the fourth quarter.
Andy Johnson finished with 24 points for the Suns’ losing effort.
With the win Peched earned the right to face the Ikelauans, who earlier won via an 81-80 slim decision over the Breakers last Monday April 16.
RJ gave the Ikelauans the victory with a free throw despite finishing the night with just five points. Kirk Kumangai had 35 for the win.
The Peched-Ikelau game will be played on Monday April 23.
The other game on April 23 will be between the Styxers and the Ididers.
The Styxers eliminated Meda, 75-71, in Monday’s other game with Una Rikrik coming home with 28 markers.
Lyndon Ngiramolau, the 2006 Male Athlete for basketball, had 20 for Meda and Ziske Asanuma had 17.
On the other hand, the Ididers ousted the Islanders, 80-64, on Wednesday night April 18 with Ongor leading three others with double figures by finishing the game with 22.
John Stills had 16, Gino smau 13, and Alan Marbou 10.
Today’s scheduled game will pit the rampaging Ngermid Rivals against the Ranchers at 6 p.m.
Peches, Mesang, 79ers keep hopes alive
Peches squeaked past Kabong, 87-78, Mesang outgunned On Fire, 71-49, and Ngiwal 79ers defeated Ngiwal Central, 84-67, to advance in the next phase of the ongoing Division II playoff of the 2007 NBL.
