Lujan and the other senators

SENATOR Jesse Anderson Lujan, R-Tamuning, (can we remove the village affixed next to each senator as if we were electing candidates district wise?) should be applauded for his stance on the government’s debt and his willingness to go after Republicans like Felix P. Camacho. Something other Republicans are loath to do.
It is this maverick nature of Sen. Lujan that endears folks to him even if he is a ‘wedge-politician.’ But most politicians are. It is just that it is not so obvious when it comes to others.
Sen. Lujan, like I mentioned in one of my earlier posts right after the election, can do more for the people of Guam if he would bolt to the Democrats in the 29th, thereby giving them the majority. Then we can really get to the bottom of the finances since Speaker Forbes and Vice-Speaker Ed Calvo, along with Sen. Tenorio, Sen. Ishizaki and Sen. Frank Flores Blas Jr. are pussy footing along with the administration’s cronies. (Senior Senator Unpingco is a statesman and Sen. Espaldon is still on unknown commodity.) At least caucus with the Dems and start issuing subpoenas (like in the Congress).
The retirees want to know, for example, where the $23 million identified for COLA went (if is was even there to begin with). Now that is a chunk of voters that Sen. Lujan could use, given his deteriorating standing with the electorate from ’04 to ’06. (And the air ambulance issue could really come in handy as well.)
Of course I don’t know if the Democrats even desire Sen. Lujan on their team given their in fighting — a tradition (for example when Lou Leon Guerrero was hindered by the Sunshine Dems in the 28th from getting the minority leader post). Maybe the Dems just prefer to “throw stones” instead of offering solutions to the debt. This is Minority Leader Won Pat’s one chance to not only be speaker of the Legislature but even acting governor and/or acting lt. governor given the prosperity of the governor to rack up frequent flier miles. And lead the people of Guam where a male Christian conservative has failed miserably and could use a female Buddhist liberal in his stead.
What have we got to lose? We can impeach Judi Won Pat if she fails too. (She won’t mind.)
