NMA releases list of qualifiers for McDonald’s All School track meet

FORTY-TWO more student-athletes made the grade for the 2007 McDonald’s All Schools Track and Field Championships after the two qualifying trials in the high school and junior high school divisions at the Oleai Sports Complex track and field facility.
Lia Rangamar led three other qualifiers in the girls’ 13-14 javelin throw, as she topped the trial with her 22.63m. Joining her for the May 12 event will be Hopwood’s Tracy Uchau and Joan Defang and Whispering Palms’ Madison Schultz.
Eight made the grade in the boys’ 13-14 javelin throw trial with Lucas Knecht and Bradley Brostrom of Whispering Palms leading the list. Also qualifying were Hopwood’s Rocco Reyes, James Rabauliman, JR Concepcion and Nino Feria and ChaCha’s Douglas Dillay and Victor Tagabuel.
Jacque Wonenberg ruled the girls’ 15-18 400m race trial with her time of one minute, 03.47 seconds. Also posting qualifying times were Hopwood’s Yue Wang, Marianas High School’s Maria Conui and Kagman’s Dion Diaz and Elowena Camacho.
Wonenberg also made the grade in the 800m, along with teammate Arisha Nishimura.
Two MHS students, three Ayuyus and one Hopwood student qualified for the boys’ 15-18 400m race. They are the Dolphins’ Nate Mateo and Ric Basilla, the Ayuyus’ Keoni Chariton, Allen Moses and Cris Aguon and Hopwood’s Vicente Cepeda.
Moses and teammate Jason Teregeyo qualified in the 800m race, along with MHS’s Matt Mancao, Rezne Wong and Alfred Kileleman.
The girls’ 3000m race will be an all-Dolphins affair, as all nine qualifiers are from MHS with Melody Ludwick leading the list. Also qualifying are Lalaine Pagarao, Grecil Race, Nishimura, Theresa Dimapilis, Shikhynah Quiatchon and Agnes Constante.
Three MHS runners and one Kagman student qualified for the boys’ 3000m race. Representing MHS are Mancao, Ken Yoshimoto and Joe Conui. The lone Kagman qualifier in the boys’ 3000m is Chris Santos.
Wonenberg and Saipan Southern High School’s Eva Ito were the only qualifiers for the girls’ 15-18 high jump event.
Chariton topped the trial in the boys’ 15-18 high jump and will be joined in the All Schools meet by Basilla, Kagman’s Juan Iguel, Trevor Ogumoro, John Santos and Frank Dillay, Southern’s Leroy Rangamar, Mateo, Chris Santos and Cepeda.
Whispering Palms and Hopwood’s boys’ 4x400m relay team qualified in the 13-to-14 age group, while MHS and Kagman made the grade in the girls’ 15-18 4x400m relay trial.
Two MHS teams and one Kagman squad gained entry to the boys’ 15-18 4x400m relay races.
