Aldan to seek reelection; Cing may challenge him

INCUMBENT Tinian Rep. Edwin Aldan will seek re-election and former Sen. David M. Cing may be his opponent in November.
Aldan, who has yet to submit his letter of intent, said he will again run on the Covenant Party slate.
Cing, who was a Democratic senator from 1992 to 2004, said the people of Tinian have told him that they want better representation in the House of Representatives.
“As of today, it’s a tentative yes (that I will run for the House),” he told Variety.
He said his “final decision” will be based on what Aldan may say and do for the Tinian people between now and November.
“I will inform him that I will also run and I will ask him to step down because I believe I can do better than him. If he refuses, I will let the people decide,” Cing said.
The former senator said Aldan should “deliver” in the succeeding months.
“If he delivers for the Tinian people…between now and November….I may re-consider my decision,” he said.
