A 35-year-old alien worker has been arrested for failing to comply with the requirements of his entry permit.
Guohua Qian appeared for a bail hearing on Wednesday morning before Associate Judge David A. Wiseman.
Qian’s illegal immigration status was discovered by the authorities when he got involved in a vehicle accident at the post office in Chalan Kanoa on April 23 at 3:10 pm.
Wiseman imposed a cash bail of $300 for Qian’s temporary release.
The affidavit of immigration investigator Abram C. Togawa stated that Qian entered the CNMI as a non-resident worker in 2000 and was employed as a cutter at Net Corp.
Qian’s entry permit expired on Feb. 22, 2003.
The affidavit stated that Qian did not file a labor complaint and does not have a temporary work authorization, consensual transfer, renewal or extension.
According to the Division of Immigration, Qian, a national of the People’s Republic of China, has failed to comply with requirements and is a deportable alien.
