A pesticide spraying will
be conducted in Medalii , Malakal, Meyuns and Ngerkebesang hamlets on
Friday to get rid of the culex mosquito.
Rosemary Kiep, Department of Environmental Health Vector Control Prevention
Program supervisor said that the spraying will be done due to the population
increase of culex mosquito in Koror.
With this, the Ministry of Health is requesting that all households in
Medalii including Malakal and Ngerkebesang Hamlets to clean their homes
and yards before spraying take place on Friday and all household members
are advised to use insect repellent to prevent mosquito bites.
The spraying will be done from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and residents of the affected
areas are asked to remain indoors when pesticide is being applied.
The public is also asked to keep children inside during spraying and are
asked to close windows and doors of your home and to turn off air conditioning
or set to circulate indoor air before spraying.
The public is also reminded to rinse and wash off all homegrown vegetables
and fruits before cooking or eating.
The residence are also asked to cover outdoor playing equipment, tables
and chairs and bring in laundry , pets and toys.
The mosquito is not a dengue disease carrier.
