The operation to patrol patrol the Palau/Federated States Micronesia Exclusive Economic Zone border will conclude this weekend.
PSS PRESIDENT H.I. REMELIIK, joined with the FSM patrol boat, FSS MICRONESIA , and a United States Navy Maritime Patrol Aircraft to sweep the sea for illegal fishing activities.
The operation was the results of months of joint planning by Australia ’s Maritime Surveillance Adviser, Palau ’s Marine Law Enforcement Division and the FSM National Police.
The operation is called Operation Rai-Balang which got its name from the stone money that used to be traded between Palau and the FSM State of Yap and represents the bond between the two Micronesian nations.
