THE Ford Rangers
ended their losing streak with a 22-7 win over the Korean Jaguars in the
2007 Budweiser Saipan Major League baseball tournament last Wednesday
at the Francisco Tan Ko Palacios Ballfield.
The 15-point victory improved the Rangers record to 3-3 and put them in
fourth place in the team standings.
The Rangers were coming off a weeks rest, but showed few signs of
rustiness, as they scored one run after another to rout the Jaguars. The
last time the Rangers played was on April 16 when they lost to the defending
champion Bud Kings. Prior to their second meeting against the Bud Kings,
the Rangers also bowed to the Young Guns on April 13.
The Jaguars surprised the Rangers at the start of the game scoring three
runs in the first inning, which ended with the former leading, 3-1.
But the Rangers picked up the pace in the second inning drilling six runs
at the top of the second to steal the drivers seat, 7-5.
Starting pitcher Norman Tenorio and the Rangers defense shut out the Jaguars
from the third to sixth inning to break the game wide open with a 17-5
lead, entering the seventh inning.
Tenorio, who pitched for the Rangers in the first six innings before JJ
Laniyo replaced him midway through the bottom of the seventh, had four
strikeouts and allowed only three hits from the third to sixth innings.
The Rangers went 7-for-29 at the plate and made most of their runs off
the Jaguars passing and pitching errors.
Chris Camacho had a decent performance at the plate for the Rangers going
2-for-3 with two runs, two singles and two RBIs.
The Jaguars, who remain winless in seven games, were 12-for-34.
Meanwhile, the Bud Kings aim for their seventh straight win when they
face the Tanapag Falcons tonight.
The Falcons are in third place with a 3-2 record.
