OLEAI Elementary School clobbered Dandan Elementary School, 15-1, while Garapan Elementary School prevailed over Tanapag in the 2006-2007 Elementary School Boys and Girls’ Fast-pitch Softball tournament.
Oleai won in the girls’ division yesterday at the Miguel “Tan Ge” Basa Pangelinan Ballfield, while the Mallards triumphed in the boys’ division match last Wednesday. Oleai’s boys’ team was playing Dandan yesterday, but the results were unavailable at press time.
Rita led Oleai on offense hitting 3-for-3 with one run, two singles and a double. Bernalyn, Kenisha, Rona, Janelyn and Jacklyn all went 2-for-3. Bernalyn had two runs, a single and a double, while Rona and Kenish scored two runs and had two singles apiece. Janelyn had two runs and two doubles, while Jacklyn also scored two runs and got a double and a single.
Also scoring a run for Oleai were Rita, Kyola and Hersha.
Janelle made the lone run for Dandan scoring at the bottom of the second. The Lady Tottots absorbed their second loss in as many games.
Oleai played only its first game and will meet Koblerville Elementary School in its next game on Monday.
In the boys’ division, Garapan had a six-run performance in both the third and fourth innings to hand Tanapag its second defeat in the tournament. The Tatagas lost their debut against San Vicente last Tuesday.
Tanapag was still leading at the end of the second inning, 2-1, when Damart sparked Garapan’s rally hitting an inside-the-park homerun at the top of the third driving home teammates Zahertm David and Marvin.
The Mallards shut out the Tatagas in the third and fourth innings and scored another six runs at the top of the fourth to increase their lead to 11, 13-2.
The Tatagas redeemed themselves in the fifth inning posting three runs, but it was not enough to save them from another defeat.
Meanwhile, the Mallards gun for win No. 2 when they square off with GTC in the second game at 5:30 p.m.
The girls’ teams of Garapan and GTC collide in the first match at 3:30 p.m.
