Bordallo appears on ‘The Colbert Report’

CONGRESSWO MAN Madeleine Z. Bordallo appeared over the weekend on the hit Comedy Central television show “The Colbert Report” as part of the show’s long-running “Better Know a District” series.
The segment with Bordallo was taped last week and ran for about five minutes.
“The Colbert Report,” hosted by comedian Stephen T. Colbert, follows “The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” in the Comedy Central line-up of late night television in the mainland.
The “Better Know a District” feature, which airs once a week, highlights one of the 435 congressional districts of the House of Representatives and the five districts of the delegates to Congress.
Over 50 members of Congress have already participated in the segment, including Congresswoman Donna Christensen of the U.S. Virgin Islands and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton of the District of Columbia.
Bordallo was invited to appear on the segment earlier this month, and she agreed to do the show “against her better judgment.”
But during the show, the congresswoman was very poised and unruffled despite Colbert’s almost boorish and insulting behavior.
“Mr. Colbert was the worst interviewer I have ever encountered in my 40 years of being in politics. He was misinformed, unprepared, and quite frankly, there was no logic to his line of questioning. I had to repeatedly correct him and I believe that he still has no idea where Guam is. He’s very confused about issues and I can easily see why he is not on prime time. This was a most unpleasant experience and I urge everyone in Guam to tune in to the golf channel instead,” Bordallo said tongue in cheek.
“It was fun and I hope that the show helps give a small measure of publicity to our island,” Bordallo added.
