With three games
left as of presstime last night before the play-off round starts, the
placing for the Magic Four had been arranged with Mesekiu to face Ngerbeched
and Kayangel to meet Airai.
PCC has still a game left against Ngaraard tomorrow but it has already
earned the No. 1 spot as early as two weeks ago and taking the pennant
in the process. PCCs current standing is 19-1. It suffered its lone
defeat to Kayangel in the second round of the three-round-robin regular
season.
Kayangel took the second spot with its 16-5 record as it closed the regular
season by overwhelming Ngaraard, 15-5, on Friday night April 20.
Airai settled for No. 3 on the strength of two consecutive wins in three
days beating Ngerbeched, 5-1, on April 19 before it struggled against
Ngardmau, 7-4, last Saturday.
With those two victories the Aces closed out the regular season with a
15-6 record.
Ngerbeched took the No. 4 position with a 13-7 card. Ngernecheds
last remaining game of the regular season against Ngardmau tomorrow will
not matter on the play-off match-ups.
The result of the other game last Saturday showed Peches winning over
Ngaraard, 18-3.
