AN 18-year-old male who nearly drowned late Tuesday afternoon in the waters of the Hilton Hotel beach remained at the Guam Memorial Hospital in stable condition in a cardiac unit, according to GMH nursing supervisor Josie Zamora.
The Guam Police Department and the Guam Fire Department’s medical personnel responded to the report of a “near drowning” at 6:08 p.m. Tuesday. The teen was transported to GMH via GFD Medic-1 at 6:24 p.m.
The teen was “conscious and responsive,” according to Angel Llagas, acting spokesperson for GFD.
Tuesday’s near drowning was the second in four days. On Aug. 3, GFD emergency personnel responded to a near drowning near the Fish Eye Marine Park in Piti.
In less than a month, these men are the third and fourth to have had difficulty in Guam’s waters.
Last month, two men drowned while diving, one was a local Chinese and the other a tourist.
