A MAN who admitted selling
methamphetamine hydrochloride or ice with his mother in their
Barrigada residence has a Nov. 27 sentencing at 9:30 a.m.
Jacob F. Mateo, 22, who was arrested with his mother Judith Mateo on Aug.
21, 2006, entered into a plea agreement last year and admitted that between
Aug. 17, 2003 and Aug. 17, 2006, they conspired to distribute 5 to 49
grams of ice.
U.S. District Court of Guam Magistrate Judge Joaquin Manibusan ordered
government and defense lawyers to submit their pre-sentence report no
later than Oct. 3, 2007 while responses should be filed no later than
Oct. 17, 2007.
Mateo, in his plea agreement, stated that he sold the illegal substance
from his residence at 142A Borja St. in Barrigada.Proceeds of the sale
were used to purchase a 2002 Chevrolet pick-up truck, he said.
An amount of $45,843 which he admitted as proceeds from drug peddling,
was discovered by police authorities during a raid on their house.
As part of the plea agreement, Mateo agreed to forfeit his interest in
the confiscated vehicle, money and all the items confiscated from their
Barrigada residence by members of the Drug Enforcement Administration
and the Guam Police Department.
Mateo agreed to cooperate with federal law enforcement agents concerning
the investigation of trafficking of controlled substances, money laundering
and related unlawful activities to avoid the maximum sentence of not more
than 40 years of imprisonment and a fine of $250,000.
His mother, Judith Mateo, also pleaded guilty on the same charges, as
well as one of their co-conspirators, Robert Quidachay.
Judith Mateo is still waiting for her sentencing date and still fighting
the forfeiture proceeding involving their Barrigada residence.
