FILIPINO pop music icon Gary Valenciano will visit Guam again in September for a benefit concert of the Guam Museum at the University of Guam fieldhouse.
Also known as “Mr. Pure Energy,” Gary V, as he is popularly known, is a singer, composer, dancer, actor, musical arranger, musical producer and musician. He is a big crowd drawer in the Philippines and abroad. He is also one of the favorite artists of Guam residents.
A UNICEF ambassador, Gary V is known for his benefit concerts and his support to non-profit organizations wanting to raise funds for good causes.
This year, the Guam Museum Foundation Inc., a non-profit organization established to raise funds for the Guam Museum of Culture, Arts and History, tapped Gary V for an exciting and beneficial event, according to Leona Young, the foundation’s administrator.
Gary V will be joined by the Company, the Philippines’ longest running vocal harmony act and tagged as the country’s premiere vocal group.
The Company is expected to perform their brand new album, “Destination: Bossa,” a popular selection of pop classic gems reflecting the impeccable musical taste of Filipinos with a twist of Brasil.
Gary V has recorded over 21 albums of which four have become gold, including the extended play of “Di Bale Na Lang,” five went double platinum, three have reached triple platinum, and one went further to hit the quadruple platinum mark.
Despite the emergence of so many new talents over the years, Gary V continues to make music that’s both meaningful and relevant to the times. He had also various accolades, including the 1999 Awit and Katha music awards where he managed to walk away with a host of trophies that served to affirm his musical contribution to the times.
Three of his albums are released internationally, “Dancin’ in the Moonlight” in 1992 under Toshiba-EMI Records in Japan; “Out of the Dark” in 1995, a Christian contemporary album well received in the United States; and an Asian release called “Outside Looking In” for Polygram Records.
He made the first interactive CD-ROM, the first of its kind in Asia, which features the life and music of an artist. “Gary: Interactive Album” turned gold in just one month.
