The Seventh Ngchesar State
Council has recently passed a resolution requesting Daewoo E&C Company
Ltd. and the US Army Corps of Engineers to design and construct a paved
road that would connect the Compact Road from Shimizu to Tabrengesang.
In a letter to Compact Road Project Manager Min Sok Kim of Daewoo, Governor
Duane Hideo explained that Resolution No. 7-17-3 reflects the desire of
the state of Ngchesar.
The resolution noted that the positive outlook for a sustainable and thriving
economy of Palau is reflective and reliant of a strong and vibrant economy
of state governments particularly states situated in Babeldaob.
It said that the newly constructed compact road is an initial step taken
in establishing an economic framework that would further allow economic
as well as social growth in Babeldaob.
The resolution said that Ngchesar took positive measures to develop its
basic infrastructure including developments and improvements of its water
and electrical system and now aggressively undertaking measures to further
improve its sewer system and especially connecting roads to the Compact
Road.
Such roads, the resolution said, is the most crucial component of economic
improvement for Ngchesar.
Tabrengesang, the resolution said, is designated and classified as the
hub of economic growth for Ngchesar and the state government is devoting
its resources and finances to the development of this specific area.
It said that such connecting road is also seen to spur economic development
of adjacent public and private properties in that area.
