A showcase of
local foods and products will be the highlight of the Agro-Tourism Demonstration
slated on Feb. 7 at the Chelauesachel formerly Nekken Farm.
Joe Tiobech, Bureau of Agriculture Director said that the demonstration
is not only meant to display the agricultural products but to also attract
tourists to partake with the local products.
He said the farm is also a one-stop-shop for tourists because it will
also be offering handicrafts, storyboards and other products depicting
Palaus culture.
The local products to be showcased will be composed of tapioca and taro
products which will be cooked as dessert or as main course.
Tiobech said that travel agencies, the Palau Visitors Authority (PVA)
and the Palau Community College.
He added that Resources and Development Minister Fritz Koshiba and Taiwan
Ambassador to Palau Matthew Lee will grace the demonstration.
Ngatpang and Aimeliik States will prepare the food.
Tiobech said that the name was changed from Nekken Farm to Chelauesachel
based on a Palauan legend.
Chelauesachel is Palauan name for mantis shrimp.
