The Senate adopted two resolutions recently, one expressing heartfelt appreciation to its former legal counsel Stepehen M. Estefano, Esq. and appointing a new one.
In Resolution No. 7-103, which was introduced by Floor Leader Alan Seid, the Senate appointed David W. Greenlees, Esq. as its new legal counsel, replacing Stefano.
Based on his profile, Greenlees, who is from Oceanside, California, is a marine officer with 14 years of experience in both peacetime and combat around the globe.
He is Intellectual Property and Litigation Attorney since 2005 for Procopio Cory Hargreaves and Savitch LLP in San Diego, California, where he was also Deputy District Attorney from Jan. 2004 to Nov. 2005.
Greenlees graduated Law Clerk, Insurance Fraud Division from Aug. 2002 to Nov. 2002.
He is also a certified Legal Intern, Judge Unit from May 2001 to Aug. 2001.
Before that, Greenlees was a law clerk for Neil, Dymott, Perkins, Brown and Frank from Feb 2000 to Aug. 2000.

On the other hand, Senate Resolution No. 7-104, the Senate also wished Stefano for continued success in his legal counseling career.
Stefano first came to Palau in 1995 and taught at Mindszenty High School as a member of the Jesuit Volunteers International and left 1998 to pursue his law degree in the United States.
He returned seven years later and was appointed as Senate legal counsel on Feb 28, 2005.
The Resolution said that Stefano demonstrated great dedication, professionalism and integrity in discharging the duties and responsibilities by working directly with each Senator and every Committee to provide sound legal opinions and advice that helped shaped the foundation of the bills.
The Resolution said that Stefano drafted numerous and significant pieces of legislation for the Senate as well as demonstrated a sincere interest in the people, culture and traditions.
