THE Dublon Chiefs entered
the win column in the second round of the World Organized Rocball Community
League yesterday at the Marianas High School Gym.
The Dublon Chiefs swept all four sets of their match against Black Magic
for a 64-31 juiced-out victory.
With the win, the Dublon Chiefs improved to a 1-1 record. They lost their
debut match against Watch & Learn last week. Black Magic won its first
game against Kich Fairo, 61-43, before bowing to the Dublon Chiefs.
The Dublon Chiefs were off to a rousing start winning the first set by
14, 16-2.
Black Magic gave the Dublon Chiefs a good fight in the second set, but
the latter stood its ground and hung on to a 15-13 triumph.
The Dublon Chiefs made it three in a row with a 16-6 victory in the third
set.
With the Dublon Chiefs sweeping the first three sets of the game, Black
Magic had to win the fourth set to extend the match in overtime.
But that scenario failed to materialize, as the Dublon Chiefs ended the
game with a 16-10 win in the fouth set.
JR Rudolph topscored for the Dublon Chiefs with seven points on two xunxs
and a goal.
Four goals were scored in the game with the Dublon Chiefs Ichnis
Kapwich and Orig Toan and Black Magics Elly Apilis drilling one
apiece.
With Black Magics loss, only the Mwaliyas and Watch & Learn
are undefeated in the second round with 2-0 records.
Da Lani Kynez has a 1-1 record, while Kich Fairo holds a 0-2 slate.
All six teams will play five games each in the second round with the top
four squads advancing to the semifinals, which will have a best-of-three
games format.
