FOUR teams have so far confirmed
their participation in the 2007 Budweiser Saipan Major League, which will
start on Feb. 26 at the Francisco Tan Ko Palacios Ballfield.
Leading the list are the defending champions Bud Kings, who will be joined
by last years runnerup the Ford Rangers, Masters and Saipan Jaguar.
The Bud Kings and the Rangers will be having an early rematch, as they
are expected to play on the tournaments opening day.
Three more teams have expressed an interest in joining the 2007 SML season,
but have yet to find sponsors. They are the Northern Yankees, Seabees
and the Tanapag Braves.
With teams still looking for sponsors, SML is asking for help from both
the private and public sectors to ensure the success of the tournament.
Meanwhile, SML league coordinator Tony Rogolifoi is reminding representatives
of interested teams to attend a meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at 6:30 p.m.
at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.
Rogolifoi said that important matters, like entry fees, players
liability insurance, game schedule, ground rules and other tournament
related details will be discussed at the meeting.
Copies of the leagues ground rules, the official major league rule
book and waiver forms will be distributed at the meeting.
He added that SML also be holding an election on Wednesday.
