GFA offers free referee course for soccer

IF you’re looking for chances to improve your soccer play or earn a little part-time cash money as a result of learning the rules of the game of soccer, then you’ll want to head down to the Dededo Sports Complex Fields on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
According to Guam Football Association Vice President Pascual Artero, the GFA will “Football (soccer) Referee Course” for all those interested in officiating in the GFA 2007 Youth Spring Season. The course will take course over a period of three days - this coming Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and will encompass a total of nine hours.
Artero stated that the GFA welcomed experienced referees as well. . Those refs with experience will then be eligible to referee in the upcoming Men’s and Women’s spring seasons.
The first of the three part course begins this Wed. Feb. 7, from 6pm 9pm at the GFA Office in Harmon, Thurs. Feb 8, and Fri. Feb 9 have the same schedule.
The course is free to all participants ages 14 years and above. Hosting the training sessions will be George Stewart, GFA Director of Referees and Eladio Manansala, GFA Asst. Director of Referees.
Artero suggested that those willing to learn about the latest changes in league and game rules also avail of the opportunity, as those changes will be discussed. For info contact George Stewart at 688-1274.
