A 26-year-old woman received
probation for disturbing the peace of her husband.
Maileen Macasieb Shilling appeared in court with Assistant Public Defender
Douglas Hartig during a change of plea hearing on Wednesday.
Assistant Attorney General Rosemond Santos agreed to dismiss the assault
and battery charge in exchange for the guilty plea.
Associate Judge Ramona V. Manglona accepted the plea and sentenced Shilling
to six months of imprisonment, all suspended except for one day with one
day credit for time already served.
Shilling was also placed on probation for a period of six months and was
ordered to report to the Office of Adult Probation on Jan. 31.
She will pay a fine of $250, a $25 assessment fee and a $50 probation
service fee.
She will submit a letter of apology to the victim, Daniel Shillings, and
perform 40 hours of community work service at a rate of at 8 hours a month.
Shilling will also attend and complete anger management counseling and
other recommended therapy and marriage counseling with her husband at
the Community Guidance Center.
A review hearing was set for June 6 at 9 a.m.
Shilling was charged with assault and battery and disturbing the peace
for assaulting her husband on July 18, 2006.
