$100G for Super Bowl big play

By Trina A. San Agustin

IT has become a tradition for years for National Football League fans on Guam to sign up to try and win big money in the Super Bowl Big Play Monday promotion. Yesterday’s Big Play Monday event was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel hosted by Hit Radio 100 on-air personalities.
When yesterday mornings opening kick off was returned with a touchdown Rob Tacloban, of Agat, won himself $100,000.
“I was shocked I wasn’t too sure it was me they were calling until my friend told me,” Tacloban said. “It was a great feeling. I am still in shock. All my friends, since they found out I won keep calling me.”
He said he would use some of the money to pay off his vehicle and the rest he will deposit into a bank and save.
Some of the other “possible” plays that had large amounts of money tied to it included the second-half kick-of returned for a touchdown, all other kick-off’s returned for a touchdown, an interception returned for a touchdown, a fumble recovery for a touchdown, punt returns for a touchdown, a field goal of 50-yards or more, a safety, and a blocked punt returned for a touchdown.
Unfortunately for the numerous NFL fans and Hit Radio 100 listeners there was only one other big play made.
Jane Benitez won $500 for an interception made in the third-quarter by the Bears which garnered a touchdown.
The total amount up for grabs totaled $110,500 with 22 possible winners. It was not known at press time when the winners will receive their winnings.
