PNCC sets new guidelines for airing Senate sessions, hearings

Palau National Communications Corporation has set new guidelines for airing official sessions and public hearings of the Senate.
PNCC General Manager Todd Houseman recently wrote Senate President Johnny Reklai to inform about the renewal of understanding of the conditions by which the recorded official sessions and/or public hearings of the Senate are televised by the PNCC.
Houseman told Reklai that the mutual understandings would allow the Senate a more efficient and organized means of communicating with the public as well as provide PNCC with a more professional service offering to the Olbiil Era Kelulau.
PNCC said that any new recorded videotape of the official session and/or public hearing of the Senate should be televised on channel 25 at 7:30 p.m. but only if given ample time to schedule for that time slot.
PNCC explained that if the recorded videotape is received after 7:30 p.m., that should be played at the earliest possible time.
Thus, its playing would not interrupt any television program in progress or those that have been scheduled beforehand.
PNCC said that this scheduling method should be adhered to "in so far as it does not interfere with programs that PNCC has scheduled to be televised for that time and channel."
The PNCC also said that it should retain the right, at its discretion to televise other programs on the same time slot when if there are no new recorded videotape official sessions and/or public hearings.
Also, all recorded video for airing is subject to PNCC’s Cablecasting Policy, which is available upon request.
PNCC noted that these programs would be aired on Channel 25, which is part of its structuring of the channel line up to reflect an organized genre based set of qualifications for the local channels.
It said that this is in an effort to make full and efficient use of the Digital TV features and resources.
PNCC also thanked the Senate’s cooperation and assistance which has enabled the company to provide utmost services in telecommunications for Palau.
