Air Force Civic Action Team
apprentices Jayslynn Riungel and Junior Benjamin will graduate on Jan.
31 after completing a 52-week apprentice training program.
Under the United States Work Initiative Act provides Palauan residents
opportunity to be part of the paid apprentice-training program.
Riungel and Benjamins position will be left vacant after they graduate.
The AFCAT is currently training 14 apprentices in a variety of vocational
trades including Carpentry/Masonry, Plumbing, Electrical, Equipment Operation
and Repair.
Apprenticeships as Medical Technicians, Supply Specialists, or Surveyors/Draftsmen
will also be considered on a case-by-case basis
The team said that each trainee selected for the program is assigned a
supervisor from the resident AFCAT , who will provide training and track
progress. The trainee performance and skill attainment is reviewed and
documented every two weeks.
Trainees earn $10 for every 8-hour workday (Monday to Friday), and are
paid bi-weekly.
The apprentice who complete the 1-year program gain the skill, work ethic,
knowledge, and responsibility that top employers seek.
The Civic Action Team is looking for individuals who are medically sound,
physically able, reliable, and eager to learn to apply for the program.
