The Patriots coasted to an easy 94-56 win over a slumping Palau Royal Resort on Sunday and seized the solo leadership in the 2007 Filipino Basketball Association at the Palau National Gymnasium.
The win was the Patriots’ fifth in as many games while dealing the Royals’ third defeat.
June Bautista led the Patriots anew with 24 points as they posted a 26-7 first quarter lead on the way to the win.
Surangel also remained undefeated after three games including a 101-93 overtime win at the expense of Samurai.
Despite failing to score a single point in the first quarter, Arnold Undecino led Surangel with 31, including 10 in the extra period.
Regulation time ended at 82-all before Surangel outscored Samurai in overtime, 19-11.
J. San Juan also had 31 points for Surangel while Eric Manio added 18.
In another game, the ATT-Jaguars rejuvenated themselves with a 79-69 triumph over Palau’s Wass-up team and created a two-way tie in third between the same teams with similar 3-1 records.
The Jaguars guards Deloy Pingot and Hener Aguinaldo led the teams’ brunt of attacks as they finished with 23 and 22 points while playing-coach George Domingo scored all of his 12 in the three-point area.
Ziske Asanuma and Lyndon Ngiramolau scored 15 and 12 for the Palauan team.
Santa Fe won the other game over Basty Ngchesar, 89-77, for its first win after dropping its first two.
The loss, on the other hand, was Basty’s fourth in as many games.
